TAA2U and TAD1U Start, Inhibit and Reset Inputs

Friday: August 22, 2014 : Time Delay Relays

The Macromatic TAA2U and TAD1U offer a wide variety of functionality and application versatility by offering START, INHIBIT and RESET inputs. The information below explains the functionality of these 3 circuits.

TAA2U TAD1U

START INPUT

TAA2U Terminal 6 and TAD1U Terminal 3

The START circuit initiates the timing function when connected. There are 2 common ways to use the START circuit.

The first method is to run a jumper from the START Terminal to Terminal 2 of the socket. This connection method will cause the timing function to start when voltage is applied to the input voltage terminals (Terminals 2 and 10 for the TAA2U and Terminals 2 and 7 for the TAD1U).

The second method is to use a normally open switch device such as a pushbutton or limit switch connected between the START Terminal and the same leg of voltage in reference to the input voltage on Terminal 2. This method will allow the user to start the timing function when the switch device is closed by pushing the pushbutton or when the limit switch is engaged.

IMPORTANT! The START input must be connected to the same voltage in reference to Terminal 2 on both the TAA2U and TAD1U. In DC voltage applications, negative DC voltage must be connected to Terminal 2.

INHIBIT INPUT

TAA2U Terminal 5 and TAD1U Terminal 1

The INHIBIT input provides the ability to "block" the function of the START input. A common way to use this feature is with a normally open control switch between the INHIBIT Terminal and Terminal 2.

When this INHIBIT input is closed, the timer will not recognize the application of the START input.

When the INHIBIT input is closed while a timing function is in progress, the timing function is paused. The timing function resumes when the INHIBIT input is opened.

When the INHIBIT input is applied when the timing function is in progress, opening the START input will reset the Function to the beginning of the timing sequence.

IMPORTANT! The INHIBIT input must be connected to the same voltage in reference to Terminal 2 on both the TAA2U and TAD1U. In DC voltage applications, negative DC voltage must be connected to Terminal 2.

RESET INPUT

TAA2U Terminal 7 and TAD1U Terminal 4

The RESET input provides the ability to restart the timing function. The common way to use this feature is with a normally open control switch between the RESET Terminal and Terminal 2.

When the RESET circuit is closed the timer will not recognize the application of the START signal.

A maintained closure of the RESET input while a timing function is in progress will pause the timing function. However closing then opening the RESET input will cause the timing function to start over.

IMPORTANT! The RESET circuit must be connected to the same voltage in reference to Terminal 2 on both the TAA2U and TAD1U. In DC voltage applications, negative DC voltage must be connected to Terminal 2.
